#KGSWOW19
From 14-18 October 2019 KGS students and staff will be taking part in a whole school initiative called ‘Kingston Grammar School’s Week of Wellness’ or #KGSWOW19.
Spearheaded by the KGS Sports Department, #KGSWOW19 will focus on physical health. Over 800 students and 200 staff will be trying to reach the milestone of 20 million steps in the space of five days.
The initiative will be supplemented by daily seven-minute workouts in tutor groups each morning aimed at encouraging students to experience the infinite benefits of sport.
Break time too will become an opportunity for change where staff and students will get the chance to reappraise their food choices and switch their break time treats for some healthier snacks. Out go the fizzy drinks and pizza slices, in come the smoothies and chicken wraps.
KGS Project Leader and PE teacher Kate Wooldridge commented:
“The #KGSWOW19 project is an excellent opportunity for us to extoll the benefits of exercise and healthy eating in a fun and collaborative way by setting a common, short-term goal in a supportive peer group environment.”
Regular progress updates will be posted on Twitter, Instagram and the KGS website. It is hoped this initiative will become an annual event.
