Relationships and Sex Education is changing…
On Wednesday 25th March 2019 Kingston Grammar School will partner with The Sex Education Forum and It Happens to create an RSE conference tailored to the independent sector.
In September 2020, all independent schools will be required to teach Relationships and Sex Education that is compliant with new Government guidance.
Sir Anthony Seldon, one of Britain’s leading educationalists and contemporary thinkers, will deliver a conference keynote exploring the impact of statutory Relationships and Sex Education on pupil wellbeing.
Sir Anthony will be joined by a distinguished array of speakers, including Nick Forsyth, Head of Wellbeingat Kingston Grammar School, who will introduce the conference, and Dr Margot Waddell, Fellow of the Institute of Psychoanalysis, who will examine how new understandings of the nature of adolescence can inform approaches to RSE.
Independent schools, including Wimbledon High School, Oakham and Lanesborough Prep, will present the findings from the RSE Student Ambassador programme and the Director of The Sex Education Forum, Lucy Emmerson, will present the latest policy updates as the countdown to statutory RSE gathers pace.
In addition to these presentations, delegates will have the opportunity to attend three workshops on varied topics including RSE through the science curriculum, LGBT+ inclusive RSE and effective assessment. Dr Eleanor Draeger, specialist sexual health doctor, will be addressing new issues in sexual health, offering fascinating insights into this crucial element of statutory RSE.
