Founder of Gung Ho Design and former KGS student Sophie Dunster (2010) has recently installed her eye-catching ‘Plastic Oceans’ collection in the Baxter Gallery at Kingston Grammar School. Gung Ho’s designs are handmade locally using sustainable fabrics and cleverly illustrate environmental issues within their prints and embroidery. Throughout the Autumn Term, students at KGS collected over 1000 plastic bottles which form the backdrop to the display and give a snapshot of the huge amounts of single-use plastic entering the oceans each week. With every purchase made, Gung Ho donates to Surfers Against Sewage, a charity which KGS also supports through the ‘Plastic Free Schools’ initiative. Both Gung Ho and Surfers Against Sewage are passionate about cleaning up the oceans and reducing plastic pollution.
