Four Kingston Grammar School students – Fourth Year Tula Knowles and Fifth Years Ed Wheeler, Teddy Warner and Mikey Eldridge – have been selected to join the 2022 England U16 Hockey Squads.

Outside school, Tula and Mikey play at Wimbledon Hockey Club, Ed is at Teddington HC and Teddy is a member of Surbiton HC, all of which are leading clubs in south west London.

KGS Director of Sport, Andy Watts, said: “It is a huge achievement to have any students selected for national squads: to have four from a school of our relatively small size is incredible, and KGS is the only school in the country which currently has that number of players involved across the U16 age groups. We look forward to supporting them in their preparation for the upcoming training camps and fixtures in the next few months.”

Head Master Stephen Lehec commented: “Our congratulations go to Tula, Ed, Teddy and Mikey, whose dedication and perseverance has paid off. Having the chance to play international matches at this age is a wonderful opportunity. They have worked extremely hard and are all excellent role models for sport at KGS. We are very proud of them and wish them all the best of luck.”
